Adding Video tracks

You can add Video tracks to your movie by either importing the first visible video (or other visible track) from another movie, or by copying any Video track from another movie and pasting it into your movie.

To insert a Video track or import the first visible Video track of another movie:

1 Open or create a movie. See Opening QuickTime movies.

2 With the Movie Viewer window selected, click the Show TimeLine Window button () on the toolbar.

3 Drag the Video Track icon from the QuickTime tab of the Objects palette onto the track list area of the TimeLine Window.

4 Navigate to and select a movie that you want to import, and click Open. Adobe GoLive imports the first visible track of the movie and its name appears in the track list.

Note: An image file can also be imported and will be converted by QuickTime as a video source. The File dialog box displays all the files that can be imported. However, if you select a file that is not usable as a Video track, the creation of this Video track will be canceled.

5 In the Video Track Inspector, rename the track by entering a name in the Title field, or double-click the track in the track list. Set the other track properties. For information on viewing and setting track properties, see Setting the properties of a video or other visible track.

To insert a track by copying it from another movie:

1 Choose File > Open and open the movie that contains the track you want to copy. Or, simply drag the movie track from one TimeLine Window into another TimeLine Window.

2 With the Movie Viewer window selected, click the Show TimeLine Window button () on the toolbar to open the TimeLine Window for the movie you want to copy the track from.

3 Select the track you want to copy from the track list, and choose Edit > Copy. (You can select and copy/paste multiple tracks. Simply shift-click the tracks in the first movie's track list, choose Edit > Copy, select the second movie list, and choose Edit > Paste.) Be sure to highlight the destination track for the paste function to work. If the track is not highlighted, click the track list and a blue focus rectangle will enclose the area.

4 Open the movie you are adding the track to if its not already open, and with the Movie Viewer window selected, click the Show TimeLine Window button () on the toolbar.

5 Choose Edit > Paste. The new track appears in the TimeLine Window.

6 In the Video Track Inspector, rename the track by entering a name in the Title box, or by double-clicking the track name in the track list, and then set the other track properties. For information on viewing and setting track properties, see Setting the properties of a video or other visible track.
